Arthur Beckman, Ph.D.

President, CEO, and Founder

Dr. Beckman served as president of Paul Beckman Company, Inc. (PBC), a small scientific instrument company, from 1994–2009 and as its marketing director from 1984 –1994. PBC designed and manufactured unique ultraminiature thermocouple probes and other temperature, strain, and flow sensors primarily for aerospace, industrial, power-generation, and biomedical customers. These customers included Sandia National Labs, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, NASA, MIT, Penn State, GM, Tennessee Valley Authority, Rolls-Royce, and Pratt & Whitney. PBC sensors were regularly used in flight tests of aircraft and space vehicles and in hundreds of other demanding research and process-control applications. For their work on a NASA Ames Research Center thermal-protection technology program, Dr. Beckman and PBC received NASA’s “Access to Space” award in 2000. Numerous published technical studies note the use of PBC sensors in gathering key data.

Dr. Beckman also has 30 years of experience marketing technological products and contributing to hundreds of new-product development programs. Clients have included AT&T, Amgen, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Genentech/Roche, Novartis, Blackboard, Corning, Symbol Technologies, Verint, SunGard, and McGraw-Hill.

In addition to his business experience in technological fields, Dr. Beckman has 15 years of experience teaching, variously, courses in political science, research methods, and marketing strategy at George Washington University, New York University, and The City University of New York. He holds Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in political science from The Graduate Center, The City University of New York, and a B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design.
